Custom Commissions

Each Labour of Wild hat is made slowly and by hand. To ensure every piece receives the time and attention it deserves, a limited number of custom commissions are accepted each month.

Commissions are managed via a waitlist. When a slot becomes available, you will be invited to proceed.

The Process

Custom hats begin with a design consultation, held either at the workshop in Raglan, New Zealand, or online.

Together we refine the details of your hat including felt, colour, shape, and finishing touches. Your head size and shape are carefully measured before the making begins. You will be kept informed as your piece takes form.

Pricing (Base)

Rabbit fur felt: $690 NZD
Nutria fur felt: Approx $990 NZD
50/50 Rabbit & Beaver: Approx $990 NZD
Beaver fur felt: Approx $1390 NZD

Each hat includes your chosen felt, colour and shape, finished with a ribbon, fabric or leather band, a soft leather sweatband, and satin lining.

Attached feather or flower detail: $40
Ostrich or exotic leather band: Approx $25
Personalised sweatband embossing: $30–$60

Timing & Availability

Custom commissions are limited to a small number each month.

When a slot is offered and accepted, a $250 deposit secures your place and allows materials to be ordered. Deposits are non-refundable.

Most commissions are completed within 4–6 weeks once work begins. Timing may vary depending on felt availability and supplier shipping times.

The remaining balance is due on completion.
